Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) President, Jean-Claude Baumgarten, said
"Travel & Tourism presents major opportunities for India as an economic
catalyst. The country's performance figures are impressive but the
government of India must ensure that the country develops the support to
manage this expected growth as well as to retain and train the workforce
in order to meet the demands of both international and regional visitors."
According to the latest Tourism Satellite Accounting (TSA) research
launched by the WTTC and its strategic partner Accenture, Travel & Tourism
in India is expected to generate approximately INR 4 trillion (USD 100
billion) in 2008, rising to INR 15 trillion (USD 275.5 billion) by 2018.
The anticipated growth will create 40 million jobs, 7.2% of total
employment, over the next decade. To explore the unlimited potential of
the Airline, Travel & Tourism industry, the Institute of Hotel, Cargo &
Tourism Management (IHCTM) in association with RBCS Group, career-makers
